So, sometimes when we get new arrivals to the boutique I think about the lingerie and who would buy this or look really good in that. And, the easiest people to shop for are celebrities. Their personal style is part of their branding as actors or singers.
We recently got in a slip and cami set from Free People and it screams Kate Hudson.
Here is Kate Hudson. I found a picture with no clothes so that it will be easier to picture her with what ever I pick. This is a little like playing with paper dolls only on the Gigi blog.


This is a slip from Free People called Anastasia. It is a gold silk slip that you can choose to wear to bed to under a dress or even as a dress itself, which is what I think Kate Hudson would opt for. The color would be perfect with her complexion too.

Like most little girls, I had a Barbie doll when growing up. I often wonder what happened to her and the little accessories I owned. My Barbie had the most beautiful clothing, as they were custom made by a family member. Thinking about my precious doll made me wonder about the lingerie that is sewn for today’s Barbie dolls.

I took a peek at a couple doll forums and was impressed to learn that Barbie doll clothing designers have more requests than they can handle for Barbie bras and panties. Next in line are Barbie pantyhose. How on earth does anyone make such little hosiery? The whole task of sewing such little undergarments must be painstaking although I am sure the Barbie lingerie seamstresses complete their task with love and care.

I found a sweet bra and panty set on one lady’s site who sells Barbie clothing. It was made from Tricot and lace and offered in white, peach and baby blue. Another site had custom designed camisoles in silk and lace. And yet another site was selling strapless bra and tap panty sets.

When I was young, we would not have thought about lingerie as important on our dolls as we wanted others to see the fabulous dresses, but I guess nowadays, with lingerie as popular as it is, Barbie needs to be fashionable as well.

 Lingerie Drawer Rejects Now have a Home
GigisCloset.com launches bra a drive with Gigi’s Bras for Charity. Women donate their unused and gently worn bras that they no longer wear to a good cause.
( Newtown, PA – July, 2008) GigisCloset.com is excited to announce the launch of “Gigi’s Bras for Charity” bra donation drive. The concept for the drive was derived from the fact that many women have perfectly good bras lingering in their underwear drawer. They have been castoff because of a poor fit or a change in size which has warranted them un-wearable. Now, they can be put to good use helping others who may not be as fortunate but still need bras.  
The Gigi’s Bras for Charity program operates by women mailing their unused or gently worn bras to GigisCloset.com. There, the staff collects then expedites the donations to the surrounding Goodwill facilitates of Bucks County, PA. Funds raised by the non-profit organization go directly towards job training, job placement and education within the community.
“We, at GigisCloset.com, believe strongly in Goodwill’s mission to enhance the dignity and quality of the life of individuals, families, and communities by giving people the opportunity to reach their fullest potential through the power of work”, said co-owner Kristina Haas.

One of the best parts of fashion lingerie is the small details that make it special. The detail that i always check out on a bra in the center embellishment. First is from Aubade, the Mathilde group. It is so sexy, the colors and print and lace are too perfect. The center embellishment on the demicup bra is two black buttons.

Another European brand that has caught on to the trend is Freya. You know them, they make great full bust bras with their non-stretch fabric. The new group Charlie is adorable. The center of this bra had the best of both. There are 2 ribbons tied into a bow and the center of the bow has a button. It is hard to see in the picture, but trust me it is cute.



So, even though sometimes it feels like there is nothing really new in lingerie, there are fun surprises that I find really endearing.
